Short answer: no, you usually do not need a new frame. When you replace a PVC bifold toilet door in an HDB flat, we remove only the old PVC door. The existing PVC frame stays in place, and our aluminium bifold door is installed over it with its own frame. There is no hacking and no drilling into the floor tiles. The same applies when we replace an old HIP bifold, PD door or slide & swing door with one of our bifolds.
It is a question we are often asked on WhatsApp, so here is how PVC bifold toilet door replacement works, what it costs, and which door to choose.
Why the Old Frame Stays
When an old PVC bifold no longer folds properly, it is usually the door that needs replacing, not the frame around it.
Our aluminium bifold doors come with their own aluminium frame, which is fixed over the existing PVC frame. Leaving the old frame in place has three benefits:
- No hacking: removing a frame can crack the wall and floor tiles around it. We do not hack or remove existing door frames (wood, metal or PVC).
- Quick and clean: installing on the existing frame keeps the job quick and mess-free.
- No floor drilling: bifold installation does not need drilling into your floor tiles.
The one trade-off: because the new frame sits over the old one, the toilet entrance becomes a little narrower. This is the standard way PVC bifold doors are replaced.

Is Your Door Actually PVC?
PVC bifold doors come in many looks: plain colours, wood-grain patterns and printed designs. A wood-grain finish does not mean the door is wood. If you are not sure, send us a photo on WhatsApp and tell us what you think it is, and we will confirm.
It matters because disposal of the old door is free for aluminium bifold, PD, slide & swing and wooden swing doors, while some other types carry a charge (for example, wooden bifold or wooden sliding doors at $90 per door). We will confirm any disposal charge in your quote.
What If the Frame Is Missing or Damaged?
Sometimes a previous contractor has removed the frame and made good the opening with cement or putty. In that case our bifold doors come with our own bifold frames, so the door can still be installed. Our team checks this at site measurement.
Please note our prices do not include repairing, painting or hacking away existing door frames.

Which Replacement Door Should You Choose?
- Lowest price: the basic aluminium bifold. It is a simple 2-section door and the budget option.
- Best value for most homes: the premium bifold. It has 4 sections, smoother rollers, concealed handles and a 12-month warranty. The centre handle gives extra support, which helps children and elderly users.
- Most durable bifold: the top hung roller bifold. It hangs from a stainless steel roller in the top track, and the bottom track is optional.
- Opens like a normal door: the slide & swing door. It has no floor track. Note that when it replaces a bifold, the strip where the old bifold track was will be exposed. We will point this out before you order.
Basic and premium bifolds have an aluminium bottom track about 1.6 cm high with rounded edges. If you want a clear floor, ask about the top hung bifold without bottom track or the slide & swing door.

How the Replacement Works
- WhatsApp us a photo of your current door and frame.
- Site measurement: our team measures the opening and checks the existing frame.
- Confirm and pay the deposit: your door is custom-made to your measurements.
- Installation: aluminium bifold doors are ready in about 6–8 working days from site measurement and deposit (slide & swing doors take 14–21 working days). Lead times can be longer in peak periods.
PVC Bifold Toilet Door FAQs
Do I need to remove the PVC frame to install an aluminium bifold door?
No. We remove only the PVC door and install our aluminium bifold with its own frame over the existing PVC frame. No hacking is needed.
Will the toilet entrance become smaller?
Slightly. The new frame sits over the old one, so the opening is a little narrower. This is the standard way PVC bifold doors are replaced.
Do you drill into the floor tiles?
No. Bifold door installation does not need drilling into the floor tiles.
Can I replace my PVC bifold with a slide & swing door?
Yes. A slide & swing door is trackless, so the strip where the old bifold track was will be left exposed. We explain this before you order.
How much does it cost to replace a PVC bifold toilet door?
From $189 nett for a basic aluminium bifold, $199 for a premium bifold and $259 for a top hung bifold, installed. There is no GST.
Do you sell PVC bifold doors?
No. We replace PVC doors with aluminium bifold or slide & swing doors, which suit wet toilets.
Replace Your PVC Bifold Toilet Door
