BTO Toilet Bifold Door: How to Choose the Right One for Your New Flat

by admin | Oct 26, 2026 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

BTO toilets are compact. A standard swing door eats into the space you need to move around the basin, and in Singapore's humidity a wooden door near the shower can swell, warp or rot within a few years. That is why most new BTO owners now choose an aluminium bifold toilet door: it folds out of the way and shrugs off moisture.

But "bifold" covers three quite different doors. Here is how to pick the right one for your flat, what each costs, and what to check before you order.

Why a Bifold Door Suits BTO Toilets

  • Space-saving: the door folds in on itself, giving nearly 100% clear opening with no swing space needed.
  • Built for wet areas: aluminium extrusion with acrylic panels will not rust, rot or corrode.
  • Safe, low-profile track: our basic bifold's bottom track is only 1.6cm high, with smooth edges to prevent tripping.

The 3 Types of Aluminium Bifold Toilet Door

Type How it works Price (1 door, nett, installed) Warranty
Basic aluminium bifold 2 panels fold into a "V" on top and bottom tracks, Teflon rollers from $189 (white) / $199 (bronze) Not covered by the 12-month warranty
Premium aluminium bifold 4-section design on top and bottom tracks, smoother fold from $199 (white) / $209 (bronze, natural) / $229 (black) 12 months, manufacturing defects & workmanship
Top hung stainless steel roller bifold Stainless steel rollers run on the top track; trackless floor option from $259 (white) / $269 (bronze) 12 months, manufacturing defects & workmanship

Warranty terms and conditions apply. 2-door bundles are also available, for example 2 white basic bifold doors for $360.

How to Choose: 5 Things to Check

1. Measure your doorway

Our standard bifold doors cover doorways up to W36" x H84" (915mm x 2140mm). The basic bifold performs best on doorways up to 31" x 82" (about 79cm x 208cm). Larger openings suit the premium or top hung types.

2. Common toilet or master toilet?

For a common toilet, the standard centre push-up lock is simple and child-friendly. For a master or link toilet, we recommend a second lock (+$10): changes in air pressure and airflow can push a bifold open, and an extra lock keeps it shut.

3. Floor track or trackless?

If you want a clean floor line with nothing to step over, choose the top hung roller bifold, which can be installed without a bottom track. It can also be fitted with a bottom track for extra stability.

4. Frame colour

Frames come in white powder coated, bronze anodised, natural anodised and black, with many acrylic panel colours to match your bathroom tiles.

5. Budget vs warranty

The basic bifold is the cheapest toilet door option. If you want the 12-month warranty on manufacturing defects and workmanship, choose premium or top hung.

Bifold or Slide & Swing?

If you prefer a door that slides open and can also swing, look at our slide and swing toilet doors, from $359 nett. For a side-by-side look at bifold types, sizes and colours, read our HDB toilet door guide.
