A 4-room HDB flat has a common toilet and a master toilet, and in both the door opening sits close to the basin, the toilet bowl or the bedroom wardrobe. A normal swing door needs a full door-width of clear space to open. In a tight toilet that space is often the problem: the door hits the basin, blocks the walkway, or traps someone who falls behind it.
A slide & swing door fixes this. It slides a short distance, then swings open like a normal door, so it needs far less clearance. Here is how the two compare, and which one fits each toilet in a 4-room flat.
What Is a Slide & Swing Door?
It is a hybrid door. The panel slides along a concealed top-hung track inside the aluminium frame, then pivots open. Ask whether it is a sliding door or a swing door, and the answer is both.
- No floor track: the track is hidden at the top, so the floor stays flat and easy to wash.
- Aluminium frame with acrylic or phenolic panels: water-resistant, so it suits Singapore's humid toilets.
- Thumb-turn latch inside: no key needed.
- Installed on your existing frame: no hacking, so the job is clean and quick.
Slide & Swing vs Traditional Swing Door
| Slide & swing door | Traditional swing door | |
|---|---|---|
| Space needed to open | Much less: slides first, then swings | A full door-width arc |
| Floor | No floor track | No floor track |
| Wet-area durability | Aluminium + acrylic/phenolic, water-resistant | Wooden doors can swell or rot near showers |
| Sound privacy | Not fully soundproof | Solid wooden door is quieter |
| Price (Renovaid, per door, installed) | From $359 nett | Not offered for toilets |
| Warranty | 12 months, workmanship & manufacturing defects | — |
Which Door for Each Toilet in a 4-Room HDB?
Common toilet
The common toilet is used by everyone, including kids and elderly parents. A slide & swing door opens without sweeping into the basin area, and the thumb-turn latch is easy for anyone to use. If budget is the priority, an aluminium bifold toilet door is also a good space-saving option.
Master toilet
The master toilet door often opens into the bedroom, right next to the bed or wardrobe. A slide & swing door frees up that corner. If sound privacy matters most, remember that a slide & swing door is not fully soundproof.

Slide & Swing Door FAQs
Is a slide & swing door a sliding door or a swing door? Both. It slides a short distance on a concealed top track, then swings open like a normal door.
How much does a slide & swing toilet door cost in Singapore? At Renovaid, from $359 nett per door installed, or $780 nett for 2 standard doors. There is no GST.
Does it have a floor track? No. The track is concealed at the top of the aluminium frame, so the floor stays clean and easy to wash.
Is a slide & swing door soundproof? No. It gives normal privacy but is not fully soundproof. If maximum sound insulation is your priority, a wooden door is better.
