4 Main Door Materials We Offer
There are many types of main doors on the market. Renovaid Team only offers these four, each fabricated to order.
Nyatoh Plywood
Nyatoh sheet glued and pressed onto plywood, usually varnished for a natural wood grain. Painting is possible but not recommended long-term.
Veneer Plywood
Thin wood veneer "plies" glued together with adjacent grains rotated up to 90°. Also known as "Designer Doors", popular for a distinctive look.
Laminate
1mm HPL glued and pressed with 3mm plywood and a masonite/composite wood core, with matching ABS edge trim. Known for scratch and sound resistance.
Solid Nyatoh Timber
Solid nyatoh timber panels glued and joined for a classic, timeless design. Usually varnished; painting is possible but not recommended.

Single Leaf vs. Double Leaf
There are at least two main door measurements across HDB flats in Singapore. Knowing which one you have helps you budget accurately and choose the right material. You cannot convert a double leaf door into a single leaf door.
Single Leaf Main Door
Width 3ft × Height 7ft (915mm × 2130mm). The most common configuration for standard HDB flats, with one door panel.
Double Leaf Main Door
Width 4ft × Height 7ft (1220mm × 2130mm). Common in newer or larger flat types, with two door panels of unequal width.

Which One Do You Need?
For HDB flats over 30 years old, your existing main door might not be fire rated unless a previous owner changed it. Here is how to check.
Flat Built 1992–1995 Onward
Likely fire rated, but check the fire seal on the side of the door to confirm.
High Chance Fire Rated
Still verify via the fire seal on the door edge.
Confirm with HDB
For confirmation on whether your replacement requires a fire-rated door, check directly with HDB. They will advise based on your flat’s specific requirements. The minimum requirement for a fire-rated main door is 30 minutes.

How do I know if I need a single leaf or double leaf main door?
Check how many door panels your current main door has. One panel is single leaf (3ft × 7ft) and two panels of unequal width is double leaf (4ft × 7ft). You cannot convert between the two, so confirm before requesting your quote.
Is my existing main door fire rated?

Half-hour fire-rated doors are $800 (Nyatoh) and $850 (Veneer), and a double leaf fire-rated Veneer door with a mild steel gate is $1,350. Prices include measurement, delivery, installation and disposal of your old door.
Can I paint my Nyatoh or Veneer main door?
Technically yes, but we don't recommend it for Nyatoh or Solid Nyatoh Timber doors, because the finish might not hold up well in the long run. These materials are designed to be varnished to show their natural wood grain.
Can I add custom design elements to my main door?
Yes. Nyatoh Plywood, Veneer Plywood and Laminate main doors can be customised with stainless steel inlay, groove lines or (for Nyatoh and Veneer) beading, at additional cost for the extra material used.
My condo management has rules on main door replacement. What do I do?
Check with your condo management first. They typically set standards for door replacement such as colour, material or fire-rating requirements. Once confirmed, WhatsApp us the specifications and we will advise on what we can fabricate.
